SkyRun Directions 2025

For easy GOOGLE MAPS navigation from Harare, use the following link to Far and Wide HQ: Far and Wide Directions.

Important: Driving the last stretch of dirt in the dark is very complicated and you will get lost. Leave plenty of time to do this in the daylight. Do Not leave Harare later than 13:00.
Google Maps will work but will take you on the Pungwe Scenic Road (a worse road), rather turn off on to the Nyakupinga Road at our first Mutarazi Falls Sign 11.7km from Mutare/Nyanga turnoff (once you turn onto this road it will recalculate and take you the current best route). Use Google maps link for each property below.

(Distances are accurate to the nearest 100 meters)

Starting Point: Mutare/Nyanga Road Turnoff (1 km before Juliasdale)

1. Turn right onto the Mutare/Nyanga Road (1 km before Juliasdale). GOOGLE MAPS LINK

2. Drive 11.7 km on the Mutare/Nyanga Road. GOOGLE MAPS LINK

3. Turn left onto a dirt road (look for the green sign on the right side of the tar road reading “Mutarazi Falls SkyWalk”).

4. Continue straight for 10 km, ignoring any side roads along Nyakupinga/Shannon Road. GOOGLE MAPS LINK

5. Turn left onto the Pungwe Scenic Road (again, look for the green “Mutarazi Falls SkyWalk” sign).

6. Drive 2.4 km to reach the Mutarazi Falls Road turnoff (you’ll see another green “Mutarazi Falls SkyWalk” sign). GOOGLE MAPS LINK

7. Arrive at the Mutarazi Falls Road Turnoff. Follow the specific property directions below.

Detailed Directions for Specific Locations

1. Protea Cottage (30 Minutes) GOOGLE MAPS PIN

• Turn right onto Mutarazi Road and drive 200 meters, then turn left.

• Follow the forest track for 800 meters to reach the cottage.

2. SkyDeck Mountain Retreat (35 Minutes) GOOGLE MAPS PIN

• Turn right onto Mutarazi Road and drive 2.8 km.

• Look for two stone pillars on your left; the driveway leads 200 meters to SkyDeck.

3. Far and Wide HQ and Mutarazi Cottages (40 Minutes) GOOGLE MAPS PIN

• Turn right onto Mutarazi Road and drive 4 km to Far and Wide’s entrance.

• The stone cottages (Mutarazi Cottages) are nearby:

• Josh’s Cottage: Nearest the entrance.

• JJ’s Cottage: In the middle.

• Chris’s Cottage: Closest to the main house.

4. Mutarazi Falls SkyWalk, SkyLine, and Campsite (45 Minutes) GOOGLE MAPS PIN

• Turn right onto Mutarazi Road and drive 6.6 km to the Parks boom gate.

• Pay the entrance fee, then drive 800 meters to the campsite and parking area.

• Access the SkyWalk and SkyLine via the path on the right side of the car park, offering the best views of the falls.

5. Pungwe Drift Cottages (1 hour) [Google Maps Pin]

• Continue straight past the Mutarazi Road turnoff for 7.1 km to the Pungwe Drift turnoff.

• Turn right and proceed to the Parks boom gate to sign in and pay the fee.

• Follow the road to the Pungwe Cottages:

• Gecko Cottage: Located before the river crossing.

• Wagtail Cottage: Located after the river crossing.

Directions to Other Locations

Golden Pools (1 hour 30 min to 2 hours from F&W) GOOGLE MAPS PIN

1. Continue 12.5 km along the 4x4 track past Pungwe Drift Cottages.

2. Alternatively, from Juliasdale (shorter route option than going via Far and Wide):

• From the Mutare/Nyanga Tar road turn left onto the Nyakupinga rd and drive 1.2km

• Turn left onto Brackenridge Road (1.2 km from the Nyakupinga turnoff).

• Drive 12 km on Brackenridge Road to Pungwe Scenic Road.

• Turn left and drive 2.7 km, then turn right to Pungwe Drift.

• Follow the 4x4 track for 13.8 km to Golden Pools.

Aberfoyle Lodge from Golden Pools (3 hours) GOOGLE MAPS PIN

1. Return to the Mutarazi Falls Road turnoff or use Brackenridge rd option.

2. Option 1: Continue straight on Pungwe Scenic Road (17 km) to reach Honde Valley Road. (Note: Pungwe Scenic Road may be in poor condition but is shorter.)

3. Option 2: From Mutarazi Turn-off, drive 1.2 km and turn right onto Shannon Road.

• Drive 13.7 km to Mutare/Nyanga Road.

• Turn left and drive 12.8 km, then turn left onto Honde Valley Road.

4. Follow the main tar road past the tea factory (about 61km), then drive 6 km on the dirt road to Aberfoyle.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Alternative Route to Golden Pools (if Pungwe Drift is flooded)

1. Use Rhodes Nyanga National Park entry gate leading to Mt Nyangani carpark:

• Drive 16.2 km to a road on your right, just before the carpark.

• Turn right and drive 10 km to Golden Pools. (Note: This road was upgraded by us in 2023 but requires a 4x4.)

2. Things to consider

• 4x4 vehicles are strongly recommended for most routes.

• The Pungwe Scenic Road and Rhodes Nyanga routes may vary in condition, especially after heavy rains.

• Although distance may not seem that far the road conditions mean that travel time is a lot longer, especially when driving in convoy.
